KATHMANDU, 4 Sept (Bernama-Xinhua) — Dua lelaki yang terperangkap di dalam terowong sebuah projek kuasa hidro yang terjejas teruk akibat kejadian tanah runtuh berlumpur dahsyat minggu lepas, diselamatkan pada Jumaat, menurut Tentera Nepal.
“Selepas 10 hari dalam kegelapan, kini ada sinar cahaya. Dua orang masih hidup telah diselamatkan dari dalam terowong projek kuasa hidro Trishuli-3A,” kata Tentera Nepal dalam satu hantaran di media sosial. “Operasi menyelamat sedang dijalankan.”
Penyelamatan itu membangkitkan semula harapan bahawa mereka yang dipercayai terperangkap di dalam terowong beberapa projek lain terkesan banjir kilat itu juga mungkin dapat diselamatkan.
Menurut Sekretariat Menteri Tenaga, Sumber Air dan Pengairan, Kabir Maharjan, 45, penyelia bagi Projek Automasi Kuasa Hidro Upper Trishuli 3A dari Kathmandu dan Sanjaya Sah, 30, mandur dari daerah Saptari, berjaya diselamatkan.
Media tempatan melaporkan pasukan penyelamat melakukan usaha lanjut untuk menembusi terowong berkenaan selepas mendengar suara dari dalam dan berjaya mewujudkan komunikasi dengan individu yang dipercayai terperangkap di situ.
Kejadian tanah runtuh berlumpur pada 26 Ogos itu memusnahkan infrastruktur di sepanjang koridor sungai Bhotekoshi dan Trishuli, serta mengorbankan sekurang-kurangnya 1,259 nyawa manakala 5,083 orang masih hilang setakat petang Khamis, menurut laporan situasi terkini oleh Pihak Berkuasa Pengurusan dan Pengurangan Risiko Bencana Kebangsaan.
